Much of my time is spend to preserve the memory of the Jewish community Dokshitsy, now in Belarus, where my father Maurice was born. In May, 2008 I went to Dokshitsy to attend the re-dedication of the Jewish cemetery. I feel that my entire life was a preparation for this project which you can read about at JewishDokshitsy.org. In fact I am president of The Friends of Jewish Dokshitsy, Inc. Also learn about the Cirlin-Ginzburg, and Kusinitz, and Pokross families. I am also related to the Karnovsky family. I grew up Newport RI. At the time I think I was almost related to most of Jewish Newport. As part of my family research, I am acting as a clearing house for people whose last name, or whose ancestor's last name was Pokross ( Pokrassa). For more information. visit yousaypokrassa. where you can learn how a family was reunited after 70 years.
I am very active in opposing Body Worlds and similar exhibits of
plasticized "real" human bodies, which I consider an affront to human
dignity. See dignity in boston.
I have been encouraged by people all over the world in this effort, and
have made many friends in this endeavor from all over the US and
Canada, and also in Germany, The Netherlands, and Australia.
A lot of my interest revolve around the Shul I attend,Temple Israel, and the town that I live in, Sharon Massachusetts. At Temple Israel remembrances
composed by Temple members about communities affected by the Holocaust
are read during Yizkor. I came up with the idea of posting them on the Temple web site, and managed the project with the help of many including Donna Carver, the webmaster. Sukkahs of the world is devoted to pictures of sukkahs from Sharon to Shanghai, and from Boston to Beijing. There was also a site from 2005 about the sukkahs in Sharon, Mass., and about hannukah.
Be sure to check out the hannukah movie. Sharon, Massachusetts is one
of the most Jewish places in the world. Don't you think it should have
a home page? I co-chaired a Naomi Shemer memorial event at Temple Israel. Lettersfromisrael is devoted to letters that were not intended for publication from travelers to or residents of Israel.
Here are some videos that I enjoy:
Here is an ethereal two part piece. Then look at the sticker song: And here is something for Rosh Hashana 5768:
